Cascia Hall Lady Commandos - 2020 Basketball Preview Feature - Presented by Tulsa Bone & Joint

GIRLS Coach: Jason Hightower
2019-20 Record: 15-14
The Lady Commandos won eight of their final 11 games while advancing to the area tournament last season and they return three starters who look to take it a step farther this season. Landrey Hill (5-9, So.) who averaged 5.7 points a game and just about as many rebounds will be the focus of attention for opposition players. “She’s got a super high motor and improved her jump shot last year while getting a lot of valuable playing time as a freshman,” said coach Janson Hightower. “She’s got a chance to have a great season. Providing valuable senior leadership for the Lady Commandos will be Allie Gammill (5-7, Sr.) who averaged 4.4 points a game last year. “She plays extremely hard and physical and took on more of the scoring load last year,” said Hightower. The third returning starter is Maryn Rodgers (5-7, Jr.) who hit some big shots last year during the playoff run. Adding to the mix will be Zoe Gardner (5-9, Sr.) in the middle who Hightower calls a great rebounder and Megan Lobato (5-7, Jr.) who Hightower feels may be the most improved player on the squad. SOMETHING TO WATCH- Hightower says the Lady Commandos will need to create more offense through defensive pressure and must have some new comers contribute some valuable minutes this season. Hightower feels Hill will be one of toughest players to guard in 3A basketball this year because of her speed, athleticism and improved shooting.
