Owasso's Kyler Mann - Basketball Spotlight - Presented by Owasso Drug
By Hannah Ossman
Kyler Mann is a senior basketball player for Owasso High School. He is excited to end his last high school basketball season on a high note with his team and play the best season they can.
Kyler has been playing basketball since he was in the first grade. What first got him interested in playing was watching his older brother and seeing how much he truly loved and enjoyed the sport. Ever since trying it out for himself, Kyler has been hooked.
“My favorite thing about basketball is how competitive it is, and how much fun I have when I’m playing,” said Kyler.
On the court, Kyler plays both small forward and power forward. He devotes all his time and attention to basketball, and he is hoping all his hard work will pay off this season. His main goal for this last season is to win state with his team.
Kyler has enjoyed all the time spent with his team and coaches over the years. “My favorite memory is when we went to Mustang last year. It was fun and that’s where we all became closer,” said Kyler.
“My team is like family. We have been together for a while and we’re always together,” said Kyler.
While he does not have one specific basketball role model, Kyler admires professional and college players for the acts of kindness they do off the court. A lot of athletes look up to professionals and see the good they do for their communities and the people around them.
“What motivates me to be the best player and person I can be is my family, and making them happy seeing me succeed,” said Kyler.
Kyler is looking forward to graduation and is hoping to be able to play college basketball. He is excited to go to college and meet new people.
His advice for underclassmen and younger basketball players is: “Don’t take high school basketball for granted. It’s one of the best experiences you’ll have.”
