Kellyville's Kailyn Bearpaw: Slowpitch Softball Spotlight Presented By Cecil & Sons Discount Tires

The game of softball is something that Kailyn Bearpaw has been around for around twelve years and to say she knows the game would be an understatement. While she enjoys playing the game, she says that the other aspect of the sport has helped her become the person she is.
“I’m not much of a talker, I let how I play speak for me,” she said. “Softball has made me a better person, it has brought me many friendships, sisters, family, and some great role models. Every time I step on the field, I tell myself to play like the game like it is my last.”
Bearpaw is a junior at Kellyville high school. She plays slowpitch and fastpitch softball for the Lady Ponies, as well as basketball. She plays pitcher during slowpitch season and third base and centerfield when fastpitch rolls around.
Becoming the athlete and person she is today has required a lot from Kailyn, but she says she would not be where she is today without some special people.
“It has taken a lot of hard work, determination, positive attitude, and confidence,” she said. “My mom and coaches have made big impacts on my life. My mom will do anything it takes to get us to where we want to be and that has taught me to do the same. Jeff Allen, my travel ball coach, has pushed me to be better, always believed in me, & taught me what it takes to go to the next level. My High School and DG coaches have made me such a better person and pushed me to strive to be the best.”
She has made many great memories throughout her athletic career, but for Bearpaw there are a couple that stand out as her favorite.
”Winning a State Championship last year in slow pitch was awesome,” she said. “We were planning on getting another one this year. Also, verbally committing to the University of Tulsa is probably the best thing that has happened during my career. It’s been a dream come true.”
