Head coach Loren Montgomery and the Bixby Spartans continue to dominate Class 6AII. Last season the Spartans went 13-0 winning another gold ball. Mason Williams (5-10, 175, Sr.) returns at quarterback for the Spartans, which is bad news for other teams in the class. If the returning of a senior quarterback wasn’t enough to frighten the competition, how about the return of another Presley, Braylin Presley (5-7, 170, Jr.) is back at running back. Presley possesses the ability to break any run play for a score and is very elusive in traffic. One area that always seems to be strong for Bixby in the offensive line and this year seems to be more of the same. Cody Paschall (6-2, 245, Jr.) and Caleb Townsend (6-2, 270, Sr.) lead another solid group of linemen into the 2020 season. Skill position players like Preston Solomon (6-4, 200, Jr.) and Miles Hill (6-2, 195, Jr.) figure heavily into the passing game for Williams. Look for this pair to light it up this season. But as always, coach Montgomery is cautiously optimistic. “We graduated a lot of really good players from the undefeated 2019 team,” said Montgomery. “However, we have a good nucleus of returners and a lot of good young potential. We will see how this 2020 team comes together.”
