The 2020 Cascia Hall Commandos are experienced, talented, and looking to improve on their 7-4 record from last season. On offense, a plethora of quality wide receivers will stress opposing defenses. Before getting hurt midway through his junior season, Bobby Beyers (5-9, 155, Sr.) was unstoppable catching passes. Sophomore Aiden Hicks (6-2, 170) gives the offense a tall option on the perimeter with great leaping ability. Seniors Andrew Warthan (5-9, 165) and Jack Duncan (6-2, 170), and junior Jake Lobato will be in rotation as well. Dylan Wilson (6-1, 205, Sr.) and Flynn Sage (6-2, 195, Jr.) will be the tight ends and are proven pass-catchers. Pulling the trigger will be senior Cooper Mullen (6-2, 200). Mullen possesses a rocket arm, while his size and athleticism also make him a threat to run the ball, adding another dimension to the offense. Cascia returns its leading rusher in sophomore Jayce Ward, an explosive runner who is tough to tackle. Sophomores Ethan Clark (5-9, 180) and Max Weller will be in the mix as well. Returning to the offensive line will be J.J. Peters (6-2, 230), Stephen Stagg (5-9, 235), and Luke Baber (6-1, 215, Sr.). Other linemen who will look to make an impact are Zach Yuan (5-10, 240, Sr.), Brooks Blakemore (6-3, 220, Jr.), and Harrison Bollinger (6-1, 260, So.).

On the defensive side, the “Blue Swarm” will be counted on to set the tone. Leading the way will be two returning inside linebackers, leading tackler Dylan Wilson and the multi-talented Flynn Sage. Ethan Clark, who logged playing time as a freshman, will take the third linebacker spot. Seniors Scott Hawkins (6-0, 180) and Chase Moody (6-0, 180) will provide leadership and depth at the position. Returning starters J.J. Peters and Owen Pazzo (6-0, 250, So.) will anchor the defensive line. Coach Medina believes that Pazzo has the potential to be one of the best defensive linemen in recent Cascia history by the time his playing career is finished. Luke Baber will contribute at defensive end, and Jed Wagner (6-2, 240, Sr.) returns after missing his junior year. In the backfield, Cascia will returnseniors Bobby Beyers and Andrew Warthan. Both players have the ability to make big plays once the ball is in the air. Nick Choquette (5-9, 165, Sr.) and Trace Van Pelt (6-2, 160) will provide excellent depth to the group. A move to Class 2A this season brings new challenges to the Commandos. The last time Cascia Hall was in this class was 2007, when they won the state championship. In a district that contains powerhouses like Spiro and Vian nothing will be easy for Cascia as they pursue another bid to the playoffs.
